Our Church
On Easter Sunday 1981 Crowstone St.George's Church was born.
Prior to that date St.George's United Reformed Church worshipped in Park Terrace, Southend on Sea. The Crowstone United Reformed Church minister, Rev. Clifford Wilton, had, at that time temporary oversight of Pastoral care and the leadership of St.George's. After a very short period the St.George's Eldership asked it's membership to consider closing their buildings and joining with Crowstone to form a United Church. Crowstone's Eldership were having similar thoughts. On Easter Sunday 1981 the Union of the two Churches was formally dedicated. The new Church wa called Crowstone St.George's United Reformed Church.
Now Crowstone St.George's Church forms the central part of Crowstone Christian Centre indeed it is its very reason for existing. This Christ centred neighborhood facility is here for all to use. Here worship, discipling, befriending and serving are an everyday occurrence; here ordinary people are trying to live out their faith by being the Church of today.
In today's World it is so easy for us to forget that we can all know God personally. Sometime, though, we get so caught up in other things we can forget about God and that we have a Spiritual dimension.
The Bible not only reminds us of our Spirituality but also claims that understanding it is crucial to our human experience. This is why Jesus, the one who claimed to be 'the Way, the Truth and the Life', is so important.
We believe
- He is the son of God
- He died so that we might be forgiven
- He is alive and can help us now
This help is not just available to a few privileged people. This Church consists of ordinary people young and old, couples an Singles, young and old families, lone parent families, all of whom are learning to live their lives according to the teachings of Christ.
We have many different backgrounds - but we have one thing in common: each one of us has a personal relationship with God.
Because of our re-styled, welcoming and accessible buildings everyone who enters will be in no doubt that here is a worshipping community.
